Opportunities From: Maryland Park Service

Interested in helping maintain Susquehanna State Park's trails, but don't have a specific one you'd like to "Adopt" through Adopt-A-Trail? Then this opportunity is right for you! Whether you'd prefer to work solo or in a group, there are plenty of opportunities to help out on our trails while also getting out in nature! 

Join us in the ongoing effort to keep our parks clean and beautiful by picking up litter at Susquehanna State Park! Whether you'd like to walk along the river, through our picnic areas, or down one of our trails, there are plenty of opportunities for you help keep our parks clean while recreating outdoors!

Trash bags, trash pickers, work gloves, and safety vests can be provided by the park.

Do you have a favorite trail? Maybe you should consider adopting it! Through our Adopt-A-Trail program, you can sign up to take individual or shared responsibility for an entire trail or trail section. Provide routine maintenance and basic repairs, and make suggestions for larger-scale group work day projects. Add the element of human interaction by serving as "trail host" and hike your trail frequently, prepared to greet people and answer questions, provide maps and information regarding trail conditions, and encourage trail stewardship and compliance.

If you are interested in being a state park volunteer, but are unable to commit to the any of the current opportunities or can't find an opportunity the meets your interests, you can still sign up and register. Doing so will ensure that the Volunteer Coordinator is aware of your interest and will contact you to explore future possibilities.
